This river runs from Maridalen in the north of Oslo, to Vaterland in the south. Along the river is a beautiful 8 km path which is perfect for a walk.
In the old days many of the factories where situated along the river, and today many of them are turned into offices, apartments or even bars and discos.
For many years the river was very polluted, but today it is clean and you can feed the many birds that are along the river, watch the fishes swimming around, or even rent a canoe in Villmarkshuset, situated at the end of the river near Grønland in downtown Oslo.
You don't have to walk the whole length, take the bus to Sagene and go walking from there and a bit down if you just want to see some of it. Make a stop at the bar 'Blå', near Grünerløkka, where you can sit next to the river and have something to drink. From here you can walk 10-15 minutes more along the river, and you are in the downtown of Oslo.
